One day in the future, we see bars regularly carrying bottles of water soluble THC – and mixing the new and better alcohol alternative just the same way we mix bottles of liquor, right on sight for you.

But the rules of mixology do change. THC does have a taste to it, especially when sheared down to nano-scale sizes. It is bitter, and the smaller the particles, the more surface area it will hit on your tongue. But there’s a bright side to this -bc the more surface area you can expose the THC to in your body, the more readily and quickly the body can get THC into the bloodstream (see our Nano-THC page). And without proper processing, THC in itself is far from friendly to any water, which is why traditional edibles take so long to have any effects. Your body actually has to go through the arduous process of emulsifying it for digestion, which can take hours.

Any company that claims to have “tasteless” water soluble THC either has a larger particle sized suspension of THC which will not work nearly as well in the body, or they are simply fibbing. Trust us – we’ve tried a lot. While many companies including ours have spent countless hours attempting to perfect the flavor of their water-based THC, there is no true reliable way to fully mask that bitterness it contains. That’s why many THC drinks out there really taste awful – and if you regularly consume THC beverages you know what we are talking about.

Borealis Labs has not only spent hundreds if not thousands of research hours on attempting to perfect our formula, we’ve also spent an equally considerable amount of time with chefs and mixologists to determine which flavors go best with that pesky bitterness that comes with highly active THC. We want to share our findings with you all to help usher in the new era of “drinking” at the bar.
